Health vaccines and their associated compliance listings are based on state guidelines. While Infinite Campus maintains standard guidelines for all states, districts have the ability to enter additional compliances. The following information describes vaccine compliance rules as defined by the Virginia State Department of Education.

General Compliance

  • Vaccine doses administered less than or equal to 4 days before the minimum interval or age are be counted as valid.
  • Doses administered 5 days earlier than the minimum interval or age are not be counted as valid doses and must be repeated as age-appropriate.
  • Half doses or reduced doses of a vaccine are not considered valid.

Immunization Rules

The following tables describe Virginia immunization requirements per vaccine.

DTaP

DoseRequirements

0-2 months

No Requirement

Students age 0-2 month old are not required to receive any doses of the DTaP vaccine.

3-4 months

Compliant

The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 3 months, but no older than 4 months old,
  • the student receives one dose of the DTaP vaccine.

5-6 months

Compliant

The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 5 months, but no older than 6 months old,
  • the student receives two dose of the DTaP vaccine.

7-18 months

Compliant

The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 7 months, but no older than 18 months old,
  • the student receives three dose of the DTaP vaccine.

19 mos - 3 yrs

Compliant

The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 19 months, but no older than 47 months old,
  • the student receives four dose of the DTaP vaccine.

4 years and older

Compliant

The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 48 months (4 years) old,
  • the student receives four dose of the DTaP vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 42 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the fourth and previous dose is greater than 6 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the fourth dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 48 months with a 4 day tolerance.

3 dose Catch-up

Compliant

The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student receives three dose of the DTaP vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 84 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 12 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than 6 months with a 4 day tolerance.

2 doses

In-Progress

The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the student receives two dose of the DTaP vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and effective date is less than 5 months, with a one day tolerance.

1 doses

In-Progress

The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the student receives two dose of the DTaP vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and effective date is less than 28 days, with a zero day tolerance.

Tdap

Active End Date: 06/30/2010		The student is considered non-compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is in state grade: 06, 07, 08, 09, 10,
  • the student receives one dose of the Tdap vaccine,

Grade 6-11

Active End Date: 06/30/2011		The student is considered non-compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is in state grade: 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11
  • the student receives one dose of the Tdap vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is greater than 60 months with a zero day tolerance.
Grade 6-12

Active Start Date: 07/01/2011		The student is considered non-compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is in state grade: 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12
  • the student receives one dose of the Tdap vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is greater than 60 months with a zero day tolerance.

  • the receives two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine.

Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the receives three doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than 56 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and two previous doses is greater than 112 days with a 4 day tolerance.

Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 132 months old,
  • the receives two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 132 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 191 months with a 4 day tolerance.

In Progress		The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the receives one dose of the Hepatitis B vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than 28 days with a zero day tolerance.
2 doses
In Progress		The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the receives two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than 56 days with a zero day tolerance.
2 dose test 1
In Progress		The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the receives two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine, 
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than 112 days with a zero day tolerance.

MMR

For students not yet enrolled in Kindergarten:

Students 15 months old and younger are not required to receive any doses MMR or MMRV vaccine.

Students are considered compliant if the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is at least 16 months old,
  • the student receives one dose of the MMR or MMRV vaccine.

1M 1M 1R

Compliant


Students are considered compliant if the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is at least 16-month-old,
  • the student receives one dose of the Mumps vaccine,
  • the student receives one dose of the Measles vaccine,
  • the student receives one dose of the Rubella vaccine.
For students enrolled in Kindergarten or above:

Students are considered compliant the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is in state grade: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, JK, KA, KG, KP, T1,
  • the student receives two doses of the Measles vaccine,
    • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birth date is greater than 12 months, with a four-day tolerance,
    • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days, with a four-day tolerance,
  • the student receives two doses of the Mumps vaccine,
    • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birth date is greater than 12 months, with a four-day tolerance,
    • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days, with a four-day tolerance,
  • the student receives one dose of Rubella vaccine,
    • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birth date is greater than 12 months, with a four-day tolerance will.

1MMR, 1M, 1M

Compliant


Students are considered compliant the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is in state grade: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, JK, KA, KG, KP, T1,
  • the student receives two doses of the Measles, MMR, or MMRV vaccine,
    • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birth date is greater than 12 months, with a four-day tolerance,
    • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days, with a four-day tolerance,
  • the student receives two doses of the Mumps, MMR, or MMRV vaccine,

  • the student receives one dose of the Measles, Mumps, Rubella, MMR, or MMRV vaccine,
  • the difference between the last dose and the effective date is less than 28 days, with a zero-day tolerance.

Default K – 12

Non-Compliant

Students are considered non-compliant the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is in state grade: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, JK, KA, KG, KP, T1,
  • the student has not received any doses of the MMR or MMRV vaccine.

Varicella

RuleRequirements
0-15 months
No Requirements		Students age 0-15 month old are not required to receive any doses of the Varicella vaccine.
Born before 01/01/1997
No Requirements		Students born before 01/01/1997 are not required to receive any doses of the Varicella vaccine.
2 doses
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is born after 01/01/1997,
  • the student is in state grade: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, JK, KA, KG, KP, T1,
  • the student receives two doses of the Varicella or MMRV vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 12 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance.
1 dose
In Progress		The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is in state grade: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, JK, KA, KG, KP, T1,

  • the student has not received any doses of the Polio vaccine.

No Requirements

Students 2 months old and younger are not required to receive any doses of the Polio vaccine.

3-4 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 3 months, but no older than 4 months old,
  • the student receives one dose of the IPV, or combined IPV/OPV Polio vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 42 days with a 4 day tolerance.
5-18 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 5 months, but no older than 18 months old,
  • the student receives two doses of the IPV, or combined IPV/OPV Polio vaccine,

Pneumococcal

No Requirement		Students 1 months old and younger are not required to receive any doses of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine.
Age 5 and older
No Requirements

Students 60 months (5 years) old and older are not required to receive any doses of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine.

1 dose required ages 2-3 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 2 months, but no older than 3 months old,
  • the student receives one dose of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 42 days with a 4 day tolerance.
2 doses required ages 4-5 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 4 months, but no older than 5 months old,
  • the student receives two doses of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 42 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance.
3 doses 6-11 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:

  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 42 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than 56 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 7 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second dose and the student's birthdate is less than 11 months with a 4 day tolerance,

3 doses 12 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 12 months old,
  • the student receives three doses of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 42 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is less than 11 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the third and previous dose is greater than 56 days with a 4 day tolerance.
2 doses 12 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student is at least 12 months old,
  • the student receives two doses of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 12 months with a 4 day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 56 days with a 4 day tolerance.
1 dose over 24 months
Compliant		The student is considered compliant if the following conditions are met:
  • the student receives one dose of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student's birthdate is greater than 24 months with a 4 day tolerance.

In Progress		The student is considered in progress if the following conditions are met:
  • the student receives one dose of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine,
  • the difference between the the last dose and the effective date is less than 28 days with a zero day tolerance.

Active End Date: 06/30/2021		Students 2 months old and younger are not required to receive any doses of the Pneumococcal (PPV) vaccine.

  • the student receives two doses of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine,

Active Start Date: 07/01/2021		Students 60 months old and older are not required to receive any doses of the HIB vaccine.

1 dose age 2 – 3 months

Active Start Date: 07/01/2021

Students are considered compliant if the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is at least 2 months, but no older than three months old,
  • the student receives 1 dose of the HIB vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birthdate is greater than 42 days, with a four-day tolerance.

2 doses age 4 – 5 months

Compliant

Active Start Date: 07/01/2021

Students are considered compliant if the following conditions have been met:
  • the student is at least 4 months, but no older than 5 months old,
  • the student receives 2 doses of the HIB vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birthdate is greater than 42 days, with a 4 day tolerance,
  •  the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days, with a 4 day tolerance.

3 doses <7 months 1st shot

Students are considered compliant if the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is no older than 11 months old,
  • the student receives 3 doses of the HIB vaccine,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birth date is greater than 42 days, with a four-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the first dose and the student’s birth date is less than six months, with a four-day tolerance,
  • the difference between the second and previous dose is greater than 28 days, with a four-day tolerance,

Students are considered in progress if the following conditions have been met:

  • the student is at least 12 months old,

Students are considered compliant if they have received two doses of the HIB vaccine.

3 – 59 months

Non-Compliant

Active End Date: 06/30/2021

Students are considered non-compliant if they are three months, but no older than 59 months old, and they had not received any doses of the HIB vaccine.
