The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills includes all students in grades 3 through 10 who are not participating in the TAKS alternate assessment. TAKS assessments are designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills at each tested grade level. This assessment measures a student's mastery of the state mandated curriculum, the TX Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
