This educational entity represents a setting in which organized instruction of course content is provided to one or more students for a given period of time. A course may be offered to more than one class/section. Instruction, provided by one or more teachers or other staff members, may be delivered in person or via a different medium.

Object Triggering Logic

This table describes logic for triggering syncing of this object.

Action	Trigger
Post	When a section is created and saved. Section Placement is required in order for the section to send. 1 record will report for each Section and Term Type combination. Do not send records if the Calendar Exclude check box is checked. Do not send records if the course is marked inactive or State Exclude. Do not send if the School Exclude check box is checked. Do not send if the Calendar is marked Summer School. If Ed-Fi Configuration Profile = Choice + Private Opt In or Choice Only, do not send any records.
Post	When Section Placement is changed and saved on a section.
Post	When the Local Course Number or Term type Override is changed.
Put	When any fields listed below are changed: When theSCED Seq Number is changed and saved on the Course editor. When the Certified Learning Method is changed and saved on the Course Editor. When the Non-Certificated Learning Method is changed and saved on the Course Editor. When the Dual Enrollment is changed and saved on the Course Editor. When the World Language is changed and saved on the Course Editor. When the Medium of Instruction is changed and saved on the Course Editor OR on a section.
Delete/Popst	When the State Course Number is changed
Delete	When a section is deleted.
Delete	When Section Placement is changed or removed and saved on a section.
Delete	When the Local Course Number or Term type Override is changed.
Delete	If Active is unchecked or Exclude from State Reporting is checked on the Course OR on the Course Master and pushed to the current scope year.

School Exclude, Calendar Exclude, Resource Toggle and Resync Logic

This table describes the School Exclude, Calendar Exclude, Resource Toggle and Resync logic of this object.

Action	Trigger
None	If a resource is toggled to 'OFF' after data has sent, all sent data will remain in the ODS but no new data will send.
Delete	If a resource is toggled to 'OFF" after data has sent and an action is performed that would trigger a delete, that data will remain in the ODS until a resync is done.
Resync	If a record is in the Ed-Fi Identity Mapping table and not in the ODS, it will be deleted from the Ed-Fi Identity Mapping table
Resync	If a record is in the ODS and it does not have a matching record in Campus or the Ed-Fi Identity Mapping table, it will be deleted from the ODS.
Resync	If a mapping is changed in Resource Preferences, a resync will need to be done to reflect the changes.

Natural Key Changes, Cascading Updates, and Deletes Logic

This table describes the Natural Key Changes/Cascading Updates and Deletes logic of this object.

Action	Trigger
Post/Delete	Natural Key Changes: If the School ID changes, all data will remain under the old number and a resync will need to be completed to populate data under the new number. The delete tool would need to be used to remove all data from the old School ID.
Post/Delete	If any of the following changes in the Course Offerings resource: Local Course Code Session Name
Post/Delete	If the natural key changes all dependent data will delete/post
Dependent Resources	Staff Section Associations, Student Section Associations, Student Section Attendance Events, Grades

Scope Year Logic

Sections will report to the configured year to which they are aligned.
Data will only send for years that have valid configuration.

Center-based instruction	Center-based instruction	Centers are organized based on content or activity areas. One classroom may have separate centers for pretend play, reading, art, science and blocks.
Correspondence instruction	Correspondence instruction	Correspondence education is a formal educational process under which the institution provides instructional materials, by mail or electronic transmission, including examinations on the materials, to students who are separated from the instructor.
Distance Learning (other than online)	Distance Learning (other than online)	Participation by a student in a course where the educational materials are provided through cable television, satellite classes, videotapes, or correspondence courses.
Face-to-face instruction	Face-to-face instruction	Use this value to represent the traditional classroom. Face-to-face instruction is when the instructor and the students of an educational institution are in a place devoted to instruction and where the teaching and learning take place through in-person contact.
Independent study	Independent study	Sometimes referred to as Directed Study, this instruction type is a form of education offered by many high schools, colleges, and other educational institutions where a course is undertaken by an individual student with little to no supervision.

Other technology-based instruction	Other technology-based instruction	Use this instruction type only in the event that no other, more suitable instruction type describes the medium of instruction for the course.
Technology-based instruction in classroom	Technology-based instruction in classroom	The use of technology in the classroom, including iPads, laptops, tablets, etc. Or, the use of on-line related curriculum versus a paper textbook and/or workbook.
Telepresence/video conference	Telepresence/video conference	This code refers to a set of technologies which allow students to feel as if they were present, to give the appearance of being present, or to have an effect of presence, via telerobotics, at a place other than their true location, e.g., connecting to a remote classroom using video technology.
Televised	Televised	The inclusion of televised documentaries, movies, etc. that relate to the curriculum and enhance a student's understanding.
