The Section 504 tool allows the recording of student's Section 504 program participation start and end dates. Staff can print a Summary Report of the Section 504 information.

Section 504 refers to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. § 701) which provides protections for individuals with disabilities to participate in education, programs, activities, employment, etc. Section 504 prohibitions against discrimination apply to service availability, accessibility, delivery, employment, and the administrative activities and responsibilities of organizations receiving Federal financial assistance. The definition for "individuals with disabilities" under Section 504 is more broad than the disability definition for IEPs and the IEP governing process.

See the core Section 504 article for information on necessary tool rights, available Ad hoc fields, and guidance on adding and printing Section 504 records.

Data Conversion from Enrollment Records

As of the Campus.2227 Release Pack (July 2022), the Section 504 field on the Enrollment record is READ ONLY.

For enrollments in the 2022-23 school year, a Section 504 record has been created with a start date of July 1, 2022 for those students who have the Section 504 field populated on their Enrollment record. The following defines the conversion that was done for these students.

When multiple enrollments exist for a student in which the Section 504 field is populated, the enrollment with the oldest start date is used for the conversion.

  • When the Section 504 field on the Enrollment record is set to 1: Currently a 504 student, the Section 504 Record has a Start Date of July 1, 2022 and no End Date.
  • When the Section 504 field on the Enrollment is set to 2: Has been a 504 student this year, the Section 504 Record has a Start Date of July 1, 2022 and an End Date of when the conversion occurred.
